Corey is at the helm of Triton Marine located at Jarrett Bay Industrial Park. He has been a friend of the Challenge since its inception. It’s great to have him on board the judges team.
Ernie has been involved in boating and boat building as a hobby and a vocation since childhood. He also has experience in manufacturing, industrial design and management. He and his wife Sarah moved here from the Chesapeake Bay area after cruising along the east coast for five years. He is now enjoying retirement and spends most of his time watching other people work on boats.
After graduating from UNC-Wilmington, Scott worked at Jarrett Bay Boatworks before becoming a full-time mate on charter boat Calcutta. He left charter boats to become a member of the startup crew at Shearline Boatworks. We are excited to have Scott on board!
We have been after Jimmy, owner of The Boathouse boatbuilding, for many years to join our judging team! The Boathouse features models built to scale, working skiffs, and small boats up to 20′, all custom-built with juniper, hand-planked and finished by hand. He carries on the “rack-of-the-eye” style of boatbuilding that he learned from the master boatbuilders of Core Sound. His boatbuilding expertise is a great asset to our judging team.
